Welcome to Radovljica, the capital of Slovenian chocolate, for a special guided tour through the world of cocoa and pralines. All products included in the tasting are gluten-free.
The programme includes:
• Welcome in the tasting room and presentation of our family chocolate shop
• History of chocolate: how chocolate arrived in Europe in the 16th century, when and how it came to our region, and why Radovljica is known as the sweetest Slovenian town
• What is the difference between cocoa and chocolate?
• What is the difference between good and premium chocolate? What does not belong in chocolate?
• Meet the cocoa tree: what it looks like, where it grows, and how chocolate is made
• Tasting of cocoa beans and juice produced during cocoa fermentation – a true rarity in the chocolate world
• Answer to the frequently asked question: Is chocolate gluten-free?
• Tasting of white, milk, and dark chocolate with geographical origin
• Learn the proper way to enjoy chocolate
• Choose 2 pralines of your choice from the display case, where between 20 and 30 different flavours are usually available, focusing on local ingredients and original recipes
The tasting begins with a warm welcome and an introduction to the story of the family-run chocolate shop. Then, you’ll be taken on a journey through the history of chocolate, from its arrival in Europe in the 16th century to present-day Radovljica, known as a ‘chocolate town’.
You’ll discover the difference between cocoa and chocolate, and the difference between average and exceptional. Your hosts will explain how to identify quality ingredients and what to avoid when purchasing.
In the practical session, you’ll see a cocoa tree, taste cocoa beans and fermentation juice – a rarity in chocolate workshops. We’ll also touch upon the question of whether chocolate is truly gluten-free, with a clear answer provided.
The highlight is the tasting of three types of chocolate: white, milk, and dark with geographic origin, along with learning the correct tasting procedures.
Finally, you’ll choose two chocolates from a wide selection of 20–30 different flavours featuring local ingredients and original recipes.
